Gorkha Pokhara trek

  • Gorkha Pokhara trek

The Lake Cluster of Pokhara Valley as a Wetland of International Importance. The Site comprises nine lakes of noted beauty along the Pokhara Valley in the mid-hill region of Nepal.

  • Nine Kaski district based lakes including Fewa, Rupa , Begnas,  Khaste, Kamalpokhari, Guide, Neureli, Dipang, and Maidital have been collectively included in the Ramsar list . Each lake supports significant biodiversity, provides important ecosystem services and sustains local livelihoods. According to Ramsar organization , the Site hosts a wide variety of globally threatened migratory birds such as the critically endangered Baer’s pochard (Aythya baeri) and Indian vulture (Gyps indicus), and mammals such as the vulnerable clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) and the endangered Indian pangolin (Manis crassicaudata).

Pokhara is among the areas with the highest rainfall in Nepal, and the Valley and the lakes play an important role in the hydrological cycle of the region by recharging groundwater, controlling floods and trapping sediment.

  • Moderate
The Moderate treks begin to present more of a challenge to first time trekkers and are tougher than easy treks .So these treks are suitable for any walker looking for something a little more challenging and energetic. Most people who enjoy a weekend in the hills or mountains at home are capable of undertaking a trek at this level: you need to be in good health and reasonably fit, and you will almost certainly be taking regular exercise. A trek could be graded Moderate either as a fairly easy medium-duration walk, or as a harder, shorter walk. Some walking at higher altitude and the occasional longer or more difficult day may be involved, but generally conditions underfoot will be fair. A walking day would normally be between 5 to 8 hours long and no experience is necessary.

I made it home safely and even was upgraded to business class for the first part of my flights home from Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi. Which was great.

I would like to thank you for organising everything whilst I was in Nepal. You are certainly Mr FixIt when it comes to sorting out itineraries, hotels, guides, flights, buses, etc. This made my trip run very smoothly without any hitch. I will pass on you details to anyone I know who is looking to travel to Nepal.

I also saw Ben a couple of days ago, he’s fine. He and Kate are expecting their 2nd child next year which is great news, he is really missing Nepal and we are talking about coming back.

Do you have a postal address for Yala Adventure that I can courier some equipment for Pasang to. I have spoken to a few friends at some uk outdoor equipment distributors and have managed to get a pair of boots for him, free of charge which I would like to send over.
I like to help out where I can and this would be a great way to say thank you.

Hope all is well with you and your family

    Regards, your friend
