Overview

Langtang is a narrow valley that lies just North of Kathmandu. A visit to the Langtang valley offers an opportunity to explore Tamang villages to climb small peaks and to visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation. The trek starts at the small town of Syabru Besi. You will trek through magnificent forests to the high alpine meadows and yak pastures around Kyangjin Gompa (a Buddhist monastery). After an (optional) day hike up to the top of Kyangjin Ri (peak), where the 360-degree views of the Himalayan mountains are truly spectacular, you retrace your route back down the valley and drive back to Kathmandu.

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft), Hotel transfer

  • Day 02: Kathmandu: sightseeing and trek preparation

  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft), 8 hours

  • Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft),5-6 hours

  • Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village, 6-7 hours

  • Day 06:  Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft), 4-5 hours

  • Day 07: Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft),6-7 hours

  • Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours

  • Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi, 4-5 hours

  • Day 10: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu, 8 hours

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft) and hotel transfer
Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport. Our representative will picks up you from Airport and transfer to Hotel. Evening welcome dinner.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (optional) or trekking preparation
Today you will have option for the sightseeing or preparation of trekking on your own.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft)7-8 hours
After the breakfast in Kathmandu, we will  drive to Syabrubesi, a village which is also the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley. Overnight in Syabru village

Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft)5-6 hours
After breakfast, we begin our trek to Lama Hotel along the Langtang Khola (river). We will cross through Oak and Rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola and some walk we will reach atLama Hotel. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village, 6-7 hours
After breakfast in Lama Hotel we continue our journey to Langtang village. Along the way we will see the mountains, landscape and waterfalls. After reaching Ghoda Tabela, we begin to see the white peaks of the Langtang range. Our trail continues to climb up the widening valley called Langtang valley which was destroyed by the earthquake on 2015. After some hours walk from there  we will reach Mundu village where we have overnight.

Day 06: Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft) 4-5 hours
After breakfast, we will start our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, where there is the famous monastery of the region. We passed by water mills, prayer wheels and chortens.  We spend rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas with the beautiful mountain views.

Day 07: Acclimatization, explore Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,404ft) 7-8 hours
Today we spend the time climbing and roaming around Tserko Ri from where we could see the best sunrise view. We get back to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon and explore the beautiful monastery when time permits.

Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel, 6-7 hours
After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Lama Hotel. Most of the trekking today will be downhill as we pass through forests and beautiful Tamang villages.

Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi 4-5 hours
After breakfast at Lama Hotel weclimb up to the Rimche Village. From here we descend to Langtang Khola and continue our trek to Thulo Syabru.  Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu.
After breakfast, you will drive to Kathmandu by private vehicle. Evening you will have a dinner with cultural show.

Day 11: Final departure from Kathmandu
You will be free till your departure. A representative from Yala Adventure will take you to Airport and says good bye.
